OrbitalNodes

Browser extension — privacy policy

Last updated: 22 July 2026

This policy covers the “OrbitalNodes — Starlinks Overhead” browser extension. (The OrbitalNodes website has its own separate privacy policy here.)

The short version: the extension uses your approximate, city-level location to work out which satellites are above you. That's it. No accounts, no tracking, no ads, and nothing is ever sold or shared.

What the extension does

It shows a live count of Starlink satellites currently visible in your sky as a small badge on your browser toolbar, and opens the full overhead view when you click it.

What data it uses

What it never does

Where your data lives

The approximate location and orbital data are cached locally in your browser (via the extension's storage) so the badge can refresh without re-fetching each time. This stays on your device. Nothing about you is retained on OrbitalNodes servers beyond the momentary request needed to return the data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect in a new version of the extension.
